Benjamin F. Arowood was born in Gaston County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Company H in Iredell County on August 12, 1862. He died April 2, 1863 of pneumonia in Lynchburg, Virginia. Private Arowood is buried in the Confederate section of the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia.
