Floyd R. Anderson resided in Ashe County and enlisted in Company A in Iredell County at age 29, on August 15, 1862. He was mustered in as sergeant and reduced to ranks on February 12, 1862. He was wounded in the hand, head, and arm at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. He was reported absent wounded until October 10, 1863, when he was reported absent without leave. He returned to duty on December 15, 1863. He was captured near Petersburg on April 2, 1865 and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until he took the Oath of Allegiance and was released on June 23, 1865. Private Anderson is buried in the Pennington-Anderson cemetery in Ashe County, North Carolina.
