BARIKA
My
"Furry Bird"

JUNE 9/94 to SEPT.1/98

"I will Always love you!"
For my Barika

Barika is the furry love of our lives.
She is a Akc registered 4year old Female
German Shepard. We got her in 1995. Our family
has known her since she was a few months old.
Barika is not just an average shepard you buy
out of the classifieds in your local newspaper.
She is special. Barika is a career change guide dog
puppy for the blind. Barika was sent up here to one
of the local guide dog trainers in my town, when
she was just a few months old. The trainer just
happens to be one of my closest friends.

When I met Barika it was instantaneous love. I knew
that if somehow, some way she did'nt graduate her guide dog
training, that I would have to make her part of my family.
Barika did very well through her training and was an excellent pupil.
She went all the way through her training here and was sent
back to the guide dog school at 1 year of age for her
final phase of training. She did well but just couldnt be broken
of her fear of big vehicles and she loves to talk to much!
(*ruff! ruff*!). So Barika was going to be a "career change dog".
Most of the time when guide dogs are not
going to go on with the program their original trainers
are offered the dog back. When my friend Kathy told me
that Barika was going to be career changed, I jumped at
the chance to adopt her. So, my family and I loaded up in the car
one Wednesday morning and drove to Boring Oregon.
Yes that is the towns real name! This is where the Guide dog
school for the blind has their northern campus.
The main campus is in San Rafeal Ca.
Barika is the most well mannered, well trained dog I know.
She is my constant companion and can't imagine my life without her.
If you are thinking of adopting a dog.
I cannot recommend a career change guide dog more.
They are the best! I know I own one.

Please pray for her.
The lord took my sweet Barika to be with him on Sept.1,1998.
Rest easy girl. I love you.
