ALL ABOUT KATE

Hi! This is KATE, also known as Kathyrose or just Kathy. If you are wondering why I have so many roses on my page, it is because Rose is my middle name. I was named after my mother, Rose, making roses a very special symbol in my life. I even gave my daughter the middle name of Rose to carry on the tradition.


I came into this world 48 years ago on a Halloween night, so I guess that all those people who have refered to me as an "old witch" must be on to something! *LOL* And yes, I DO have a black cat!

Home for me is a rural farming community, about 35 miles from Lansing, Michigan. This is where I grew up but I spent many years moving around the U.S. as a Navy wife. My husband of over 24 years, DAVE, also known as K BEAR, retired from the US Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) in 1992 after 21 years of active duty. Here is a PHOTO of Dave in his uniform back in his glory days! When he retired, he brought me back to the land of the ice and snow from the warmer places down south, kicking and screaming all the way! I love traveling and the military lifestyle gave us many opportunities to visit new places. We've lived in some fantastic places in the years that we've been married:

CAREER:
My career path has been winding. A graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, (GO WOLVERINES!!!) I am a registered MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST, though I haven't been in the lab for several years. I devoted many years to being a full-time mom while dad was busy sailing away for 6 month cruises. When we moved back to Michigan I took a job as a TEACHER'S AIDE in my son's school for a couple of years. I soon realized that I had the credentials to become a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, which I have been doing ever since. It has been the perfect part time job...no nights, weekends, or holidays and I get the summers off! What could be better?!

FAMILY:
Dave and I have two great kids, 23 year old daughter ALYSSA ROSE and 17 year old son LOREN DAVID. I love them dearly, but they seem to delight in testing my sanity! Just this past year, Dave has been reunited with his grown son and daughter from a previous marriage, Chris and Katrina. And guess what??? They gave us GRANDCHILDREN! Four of them! Chris and his wife Kelly have a daughter Taylor and a son Alex, and Katrina has two daughters, Raven and Rachel. They have been the most wonderful addition to our lives! Just call me GRANDMA KATE!
