Notes from a Workshop in the American Heartland

The very first question to ask when you set any tool to wood:
"If it slips, where will it go?"

Welcome

Most of the material has been here for a very long time, with little or no updates. I expect to keep it all here as long as Geocities makes it freely available. It's frustrating to find a one-of-a-kind link, only to find that it's dead, but I make no apologies for outdated links. Because this isn't a commercial venture and I have a real job, I'll fix them in my free time.

Speaking of updates, here's a link to the best compilation of tips and instruction pages I've found. It is http://the3house.com/plans/search/build_tips.php?&category=&page=1

I have two up-coming projects that I'm going to be including here as time permits. I'm making wall units based on a thirty year old Ethan Allen pattern and I want to duplicate a set of family heirloom thumb back spindle chairs that my great grandfather made. For the second project, I'll need to bring a lathe into my workshop, something I haven't worked with before.

Look for pictures and working drawings as these projects progress.
