Baptist | Comments: I need some quick help . . . a "quick fix" : ) We are aware of what society and cultures do to languages . . . the English language falls short when trying to capture original language of those who wrote Scripture. I teach high school Bible and without getting too deep, I flash over the history of translations (St. Jerome, the Latin Vulgate to NIV. Can you break down the argument that fundamentalist have for adhering so strictly to the King James Version. Personally, I think it served a society for 300 years quite well, but I believe it serves the current culture and language poorly. Why do fundamentalist reject modern translations (not talking about paraphrases, that's understandable) But reject NAS, NIV, et. al ???? I know your answer could be pages long, PRIMARILY, I WANT TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE FUNDAMENTALIST POSITION. THE MUST HAVE SOME GOOD REASON AND I AM OPEN TO IT. dallas caldwell |
