Heaven

If you died right now do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?

Would you like to be sure?

The first thing that you must know before you can be sure of Heaven, is...what it is that keeps you out of Heaven.

SIN

1. All Disobedience to God is Sin.

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." - Romans 5:12

Everyone inherited a sin nature from Adam. A natural tendency to sin. This nature is condemned by God.

2. All have sinned.

All Have Broken God's Law

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." - James 2:10

Have you ever lied about anything?
Have you ever lost your temper?
Have you ever desired something that someone else has?
Have you ever done anything wrong?

I have, too.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" - Romans 3:23

Since God's word says "All Have Sinned," I must admit that I am a sinner.
If you are honest about what the Bible says about you, you must admit that you are a sinner, too.

All have sinned.

3. There is a penalty for sin....that is DEATH.

This penalty is not only a physical death, but also a spiritual death, because even those people who go to Heaven die physically.
Physical death is the first death, that is....separation of your soul from your body.

"And as it is appointed unto men ONCE to die, but after this the judgment:" - Hebrews 9:27

The final penalty for sin is the second death,
...that is, eternal separation from God.

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the SECOND DEATH." - Revelation 21:8

"...the rich man also died, and was buried; And in Hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments." - Luke 16:22-23

If I were to die in my sin without Christ as my Lord and Saviour to forgive that sin, I would go to HELL!
If you die in your sin without Christ as your Lord and Saviour, where will you have to go?
TO HELL!
Do you want to go to hell?

The Bible tells us that there is something else terrifying about dying in your sin.

There is a Judgment.

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." - Revelation 20:12

"For God shall bring EVERY WORK into judgment, with EVERY SECRET THING, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." - Ecclesiastes 12:14

Someday God will open a big book with your name on it.

YOUR sin will be revealled.

Every evil act.
Every evil idea.
Every evil word.
Every evil thought.

It will be as vivid as a movie for all your family and friends to view.

It would be unpleasant to face other people with our sin, but how much more unpleasant will it be to confront a holy God?

"For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." - Romans 14:11, 12

Sin is an assault on God and puts us at enmity with Him.

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." -James 4:4

If I died in my sin without Christ, on Judgement Day when I confronted God I would not be His son or His friend, would I?
I would be His ENEMY.

If you die in your present condition, you won't be able to confront Him as His son or friend either. You would be His ENEMY!

Do you want to be an enemy of God?

I Have Some Good News For You!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

God's Son, Jesus, paid the debt that we owe. --DEATH.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: " - I Corinthians 15:3,4

You do believe that Christ died for your sin, that he was buried, and that he rose again, don't you?
But did you know that God wants you to go a step further than believing it?

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on his name. " - John 1:12

Believing in marriage does not mean you are married, nor does believing in God and the Bible mean that you are saved.
Just as a bride and groom must willfully receive one another at a specific time and place....

...we must receive Jesus Christ at a specific time and place.

Salvation is an easy transaction.

NOT as many as were baptized.
NOT as many as joined a church.
NOT as many as lived a good life.
BUT as many as RECEIVED HIM.

"...all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags....our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." -Isaiah 64:6

These things are important AFTER we receive Christ, but they have nothing to do with salvation itself.

Receiving Christ is as easy as receiving a gift.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." -Ephesians 2:8,9

The gift of eternal life is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. " -Romans 6:23

If I offered you a gift, what would you need to do to make it yours?
Receive it.

If God offers you Jesus Christ, what would you need to do to make Him yours?
Receive him.

God's Word, the Bible, tells us how to receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I WILL come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." - Revelation 3:20

If I knocked at your door and you did not ask me in, I would not break down the door and force my way in.
Jesus only comes into our hearts when we ASK Him.

Jesus is now knocking at the door of YOUR heart, ready to forgive YOUR sin.

He has promised that if anyone would ask Him into his heart, He will come in. Do you believe God's promise?

His promise depends on your willingness to open your heart and RECEIVE HIM.

Would you be willing right now to claim God's promise as your very own and ask Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and Saviour?

Please pray the following....

Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner, but I believe that you died to take away my sins, and rose from the dead. Please forgive me for my sins, come into my heart and save me. I am trusting you to take me to Heaven when I die, and to help me live for you. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
