The Bolstad/Bolster Family Search

I will continue to add information to this site so it will constantly be under construction.

      I am following the BOLSTER(my dad's father's side) line back to Norway. Quite by accident, I found Halvard J. Bolstad's web page Luster Farm Books which has since been removed. I contacted Halvard J. and he happens to be a distant cousin. He gave me all this information regarding the Bolstads. Thank you to Halvard J. Also, I would like to thank Lars Øyane who is the local historian for the area.

       My great, great, great grandfather was Christen NILSSON BOLSTAD(1794-1848) who married Anna ANDERSDOTTER MORKRID(1799-1857). My great grandfather was Christen ANDERSSON BOLSTAD(1855-1925) and when he came from Luster Parish, Forthuuns Subparish, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway in 1856 he changed his name to Chris BOLSTER and settled in Crawford County with his parents, Anders CHRISTENSON BOLSTAD(1820-1871) and Elisabeth ANDERSSON OLSTAD (1832-1908). He married Maria NILSDOTTER LJOSNE also known as Mary N. SAMUELSON and they settled in Crawford County, Wi.

       While Chris was an only child, he did have a number of aunts and uncles that I would like to connect with at some time. Those people would be:

• Nils Hess CHRISTENSON who married Ollegaard JOHANNESDOTTER(came to Freeman Township, WI 1858)
• Mons CHRISTENSON ORMELID/Bertha SOLFESTDOTTER
• Anna CHRISTENSDOTTER/Lars OSTENSON BOLSTAD(came to US in 1867/1861)
• Kirsti CHRISTENSDOTTER/Lars ERICKSON BRANDT(came to US in 1858)
• Ollegaard CHRISTENSDOTTER/Elias TORGERSON
• Peder CHRISTENSON BOLSTAD/Susanna JOHANNESDOTTER BOLSTAD
• Malena CHRISTENSDOTTER
• Christen CHRISTENSON(came to Vernon Cty,WI 1858)
  

       Chris and Mary had twelve children: Sarah, Mae, Alice, Leonard, Charles, Neil, Charlotte, Cecil, Mary, Almer, Arthur and Pearly Bolster.

       Almer married Laura Mabel Johnston and they had three children named Earl, Eleanor and Kathleen Bolster. Earl Merlin Bolster married Avis Mildred Iverson and they had three children named Erleen, Michael and Stephanie.

My Ancestors-FTM Reports

 I am using Family Tree Maker to store all of the genealogy research  on my IVERSON and LUND/WOLD side (my mother's side). I will be adding additional information here regarding the IVERSON, LUND and WOLD lines. I would be very anxious to hear from any descendants of Anders ANDERSON Riber probably from Denmark who is linked to the IVERSONS. He was a priest at Eidfjord in Hardanger in 1656.
