You can use the same one consistently or change it every time URL the web site address (http://www.oocities.org) browser the software you use to navigate the WWW (netscape, internet explorer are most popular) link a graphic or word that if you click on it, it sends you to another URL. Guide To Chat Lingo

This is a guide to chat lingo....a variety of what I have seen on the net while chatting has been included but as people enhance the "language of chat" it will increase and modify. Since there is no definitive lingo laws, such lingo is open to interpretation and is invented by chatters daily:-) you'll find 5 ways to say "laughing" but the best ones will stick and eventually the others will fall by the wayside. I have included the variations I have seen most commonly used. Please don't consider this a dictionary or the official book of lingo it is merely a guide to help new and/or lingo challenged veteran chatters.:-) Feel free to e-mail me additions and or comments:-) You'll notice some lingo appears in more than one category...I have tried to group them for easy reference and some just apply to more than one group... they are not just typos I overlooked! LOL

THE BASICS IN LINGO

The basics part of this guide to chatting is a few lingo acronyms and smileys that you can't survive without...they are the ones you'll see the most and will keep you at least treading water. As we go I will also introduce you to some of the more colorful and complicated lingos:-)After a while you will get the hang of using these and learn how to combine them for more emphasis.

FUNNY LINGO

These are other ways of expressing amusement and trying to show you are being funny or kidding around, use these carefully so as not to be offensive.

SAD LINGO

Lingo that will show your displeasure or annoyance follows.

HTML SECTION

This section is a brief outline of some of the more basic commands available for use. For specific details check the forum's FAQ section. If the commands are allowed try some of these to spice up your posts:-)

Basic Instructions
all commands must be placed inside these brackets <> putting a / inside the <> stops the command... please use this slash or thecommand continues onto the other chatters posts (that's referred to as leaking) and they will be annoyed! NOTE: for the rest of this section I will replace the <> with [] so the commands will not "do as they are told" and will be able to show you the examples on this web page. So from this point on to use the commands EXCHANGE ALL [] WITH <>
