Jay Morse, ORA
Californa Public Utilities Commission
505 Van Ness Avenue, Suite 4102
San Francisco, CA 94102

Dear Mr. Morse:

(Your name or business name goes here) is a cosigner of the letter and statement of June 5, 1998 to President Bilas requesting that the California Public Utilties Commission (CPUC) open an Order Instituting Rulemaking (OIR) into the Utility Distribution Company (UDC) role in distributed generation (DG) of electricity.

Such role will influence the reliability, quality, safety and consumer confidence in demand-side technology like building-integrated photovoltaics (BI-PV). The Million Solar Rooftops in the USA 1997-2010 Program will be very difficult to achieve without formal and cooperative participation of the UDC from system design to grid-connection to net metering contracts.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to evolve the important role of distributed generation within the California marketplace setting an important example for other states and a global community. Please alert me as to related research, proceedings and hearings.

Sincerely,
