Memphis Blues Rugby Club

Selection Process

For the mutual benefit of the individual as well as that of the Club, a process of selection as defined in the Blues Bylaws, has been established by the coaching staff and approved by the Executive Committee.  This process is a set of guidelines that are minimum requirements for a player member to be eligible to play in scheduled matches and tournaments.  This process insures that all players have an equal opportunity to earn their place as a select side player.  It also insures that the Club is continuously working to better itself and achieve the maximum level of player potential.  The Head Coach will make selections, with consultation of assistant coaches, and team captain.  The Head Coach shall have final authority on all selections.  Any player who questions why he was not selected may request a private explanation from the Head Coach.

Players make themselves eligible for selection by:

·      Being a player in good standing with the Club in accordance to the Bylaws;

·      Attaining and maintaining a level of fitness as determined by the Coach;

·      Attending regular training sessions each week;

·      Being current in their dues payments.

Whenever possible player selection will be made and announced prior to Saturday's game.  Any player, who is selected to play and for whatever reason is unavailable, must notify the Coach immediately.  All selected players will be required to be "game ready" at least 30 minutes prior to game time, or earlier if instructed by the Coach.

Substitution/replacement of players is at the discretion of the Coach.  All alternates will adhere to the same criteria as the starting 15.
