The sport is kind of like gymnastics only a little bit different. I am only a year underneath you. I am no where near your tumbling level but am working on it. Three years ago I made a goal to make the national team for the association that I compete under. I had said to my coach that I would be on that team when I was a senior in high school. It turned out that I tried out for the team a year early when I was a junior. I didn't do very well I did it mainly for the experience and to get my name noticed. The second year that I tried out I was a senior in high school I was a sure contender to make the team, there were only two spots open on the team and everyone knew I should have made the team. Needless to say I stopped on one of my passes with two skills left and I still made it to finals in tenth place. I was very disappointed in myself and it was very hard to regain myself. So I decided to tryout again this year. Things did not go right for me. At the end of my second tumbling pass when I was landing a double full into a reverse front I felt something in my leg move. I still had one pass left and my leg was injured I knew there was no way for me to make finals, but I decided to go ahead and do my third pass. I knew that I had to do my third pass. It was more emotional than anything. I did my pass to prove to myself that I could do it. Now it is very hard to live with the fact that I didn't make the team and it is basically over. How do you feel now that the '96 Olympics are over? Does it feel as if there is nothing else to do? Sincerely, Rona Rysavy |

Knowing that you were hurting you put your fear aside and did what you felt the country wanted. Because of you we now have our very first gold medal in the team all around in gymnastics. GREAT JOB !!!! |
