De PONTAUDEMER/DE MEULENT/De BEAUMONT
(1) Renault (Bernard) de Pontaudemer, "The Dane". Married Sphreta de Bourgogne, born 908. They had son Torf. Bernard was the most powerful of the feudal nobles of Normandy during the reign of Duke William I and was regent during the minority of Duke Richard I.

(2) Torf, "the rich" Harcourt, born 928. Son of Renault and Sphreta de Pontaudemer. Married Ertemburge de Brioquebec and had son Touroude. Torf is the earliest historical progeniter of the Newburgh and Newberry families from whom a certain and unbroken male line has been traced. Probably the grandson of a viking chief of Scandinavia who accompanied Lord Rollo in 900 A.D. in the Norman Invasion of northern France where they permanetly settled, giving it the name of "Normandy". Torf held numerous lordships in Normandy, with the Seigneur de Torville, Torcy, Torly, Torny, and de Ponteautard.

(3) Touroude (Tourulf) de Pontaudemer, son of Torf and Ertemburga Harcourt. Married Awelina de Crepon, the younger sister of the Duchess Gunnora, wife of Duke Richard I. He and Wevia had son Humphrey and daughter
Josseline. Touroude's inheritance was Seigneur de Ponteautorf, Torcy, Torly, Torny and became Sire de Ponteaudemer, which was his principal residence and by which name he became known.

(4) Humphrey de Pontaudemer, born 980 in Port-Audemer, France. He died on September 28th, 1044 in Normandy, France. Son of Touroude and Wevia de Pontaudemer, he succeeded his father as Sire de Ponteaudemer and was Seigneur de Veulles, Pre'aux, Torville, Ponteaudorf, and Beaumont. About 1050 he founded the Abbey of Pre'Aux in Ponteaudemer, where he was later buried. Humphrey married Aubrey de la Hay and had son Roger.

(5) Roger de Beaumont, Earl of Meulan, born 1010, died November 29th, 1089. Son of Humphrey and Aubrey de Pontaudemer, he succeeded to the family estates in Normandy, especially Beaumont, by which name he generally became known. When William the Conquerer invaded England in 1066, Roger furnished sixty vessels for the fleet and was left in charge of the goverment while William was away on expedition. He married Adelaide
de Meulant, daughter and sole heiress of Comte Waleran de Meulant, a great feudal nobleman in France. They had son Robert.

(6) Robert of Beaumont, Earl of Leicester. Son of Roger and Adelaide de Beaumont. Married Isabelle

(7) Robert de Beaumont, Earl of Leicester, died 1168. Son of Robert and Amice. Married Amice de Gael and had son Robert.

(8) Robert de Beaumont, died 1190. Son of Robert and Amice. Married Pernell and had daughter Amice.

(9) Amice de Beaumont, daughter of Robert and Pernell. Married Simon
D'Evereux, Comte de Evereux.
