(1) Count Mainier of Sens, died 796. Married a daughter of Haudre and had son Gainfroi. (2) Count Gainfroi of Sens, son of Mainier and an unknown woman. Married Theidlindus of Blois and had son Giselbert. (3) Giselbert I of Brabant, died 842 in Maasgau. Son of Gainfroi and Theidlindus. Married an unknown woman, and had son Giselbert II. (4) Giselbert II, born 830. Son of Giselbert I and an unknown woman. Married Ermengarde of Italy and had son Regnier I. (5) Regnier I de Lorraine, Duke of Lorraine, born 850, died January 19th, 916. Married Hersent (daughter of Charles II, "the bald", King of East Franks and Ermentrude de Orleans) and had son Regnier II, Count of Hainault. (6) Regnier II, Count of Hainault, born 885 in Hainault, Netherlands. Probably died in 932. Son of Regnier I and Ermentrude or Hersent. Married Adelaide de Bourgogne (born 896 in Burgundy, France) and had son Regnier III. Quarreled almost incessantly with his brother Giselbert, Duke of Lorraine, and in 924 Giselbert was imprisioned by his brother-in-law Berenger. No sooner had he been released by offering his sons as hostages than he began ravaging the lands of Berenger and others. Regnier retaliated, but the brothers presumably reconciled. (7) Regnier III "longhals", Count of Hainault, born 918. Son of Regnier II and Adelaide. Married Adele de Dagsbourg (born 922) and had sons Regnier IV and Lambert de Louvain. With his brother, Rudolfe, he sided with Louis IV, King of France, agaisnt Otto I, King of Germany. In 952 he was forced to subdue Conrad, Duke of Lorraine, but after peace was restored he committed many violent acts, going so far as to seize lands poccessed by Louis' widow, Dowager Queen Gerberga. King Lothar forced him to return them, but a year later, in 956, he attacked Duke Bruno, Archbishop of Cologne and brother of Otto I. He was defeated and forced to submit to the prelate, and a year later was exiled. (8) Regnier IV, Count of Hainault, born between 960 and 966. Son of Regnier III and Adele. Married Edith Capet, Princess of France, and had daughter Beatrix de Hainault. (9) Beatrix de Hainault, born 992, died May 10th, 1033. Daughter of Regnier IV and Edith Capet, Married Ebalus de Roucy and had daughter Adelaide.
