Welcome to my first evil of the week commentary. I will talk and generally complain about the things that are bothering me at that particular time. This week I have chosen to talk about abortion.
Many people feel that it is a women's right to choose whether or not she will have her baby. I have a question for her. Does that child have a father? Doesn't he have a say in the matter? If it was a child born of rape then the child still has a right to live whether you want the child or not. When ever someone is given a right, that right will infringe upon another person's rights. A woman's right to choose whether or not to kill her baby infringes upon the baby's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That baby's right to live may infringe upon the mother's right to happiness, but there are alternatives to abortion. Adoption comes to mind.
There is a kind of abortion in which the baby can be killed while it is being born. This procedure is called partial birth abortion. That is disgusting! If the mother was able to carry the baby for seven or eight months then the mother's life must not be in that great of danger. There are also ways of removing the baby from the mother without killing it.
The whole issue of abortion is centered around the mother's selfishness. I would not want to be born to a mother who put her career or personal agenda before the care of her children. A woman who has an abortion without concerns for her health obviously is a selfish woman. |
