I have setup Cygwin to run unix-like tools on my windows box. In this I have the X11 tools & ps2pdf & xpdf which is for viewing pdf files *whilst ignoring* the locking. I used xpdf to view the original & then print out a postscript file (without the locking) & then used ps2pdf to convert from ps to pdf & Voila! (take a breath)
