Mars Globe
This page is devoted to the past, present, and future of  humanity's exploration of the red planet Mars. In this page you will take a voyage of  the imagination to that world as seen in the pages of science fiction, in the classical space art before the dawn of the space age, and in the writings of  early scientific pioneer's such as Precival Lowell (famous for his work on the legendary cannals of  Mars). Since this year marks the centennial of  H.G. Wells' publication of  the "War of the Worlds" I will be including numerous links connected to that famous classic of science fiction. Mars still excites the popular imagination, and even today in the latter part of the twentieth century we see new popular myths and folklore emerging in connection to the famous face of Cydonia.  Was this the site of an ancient and now vanished extraterrestrial civilization?  Decide for yourself and explore the links below. This past summer many of  us heard the exciting news that evidence for past microbial life may have been found in ancient metorites that may have originated from Mars. This year also marks the dawn of a new era of  Martian exploration, the robotic pathfinder missions that will be paving the way for the human exploration and eventual settlement of that ancient and alluring world. Mars beckons let us answer its call and open a new world for human exploration and habitation.
