Thelonius Monk


Thelonius Monk (1917-1982), pianist. Thelonius Monk's early career was spent largely on the Harlem club scene. Along with other artists such as Charlie Parker, and Dzzy Gillespie, Monk created and explored the jazz style, bebop. He has recorded with such people as; Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Max Roach, Coleman Hawkins, and Art Blakey. He cut many famous albums, including Monk's Dream. Today his compositions are recognized as Jazz standards:
