Last week, May 22, 1999, Sharon Henderson made a daring leap from from a cliff at Rick's in Negril.  (see photo below)  The cliff was so high, (how high was it?) that only those who are highly trained and experienced are allowed to venture near the edge.  Mrs. Henderson, aided by an unknown accomplice who kept the authorities distracted, managed to make her way to the edge.  From here, without hesitation, she made one giant leap into the void.  The seas were rough and the winds high.  Once in free-fall, Mrs. Henderson managed five forward flips with three and one half twists, before being blown back into the jagged rock.  She bounced once, off her nose, and continued a spectacular fall, completing 12 back flips and nine more twists before making a gold medal entry into the stormy sea.  Truly an amazing feat for one with an alcohol level of 4.0%.  The crowd who had gathered during her 15 minute fall, roared as she surfaced and made her way blindly and bleeding, to the ladder.  Upon reaching her traveling companions, it was found that she had ripped an enormous hole in the side of her nose.  First aid was given and all seemed well.  When asked why she jumped, Mrs. Henderson replied, "I don't know....but I guess I left my mark here, and half of my nose on that cliff....damned wind!".

Sharon Henderson begins her amazing leap

Shortly after the spectacular plummet into the sea, Mrs. Henderson gazed at her traveling companions and in one small gesture, they all followed as lemmings to the sea.  Each followed her up the razor-sharp, coral cliff onto the "launch pad".  Some made their own.  On the count of three...or four.....or some fraction inbetween...they all followed their leader, off the cliff, into the sea.... Mrs. Henderson performed an amazing triple flip from the top of the cliff only to notice one Raubyn Blackburn had perfoprmed the "Geronimo" only seconds prior.  The males in the group simply jumped or tripped and fell from the precipice. (see photo below)  All members of this group survived, much to the astonishment of the gathering crowd, now numbering in the thousands.
