PHASE II

By the end of the summer 97' I had managed to purchase another Jeep for parts, mostly for the engine the hard top and two sets of full hard doors. I was also able to assemble the Jeep before it snowed again but it still was not ready for the road so it sat there for another winter.

In June of 98' I managed to get the Jeep roadworthy and drove it for a few months what a great feeling, but I had engine and tranny problems. The engine had no power and kept stalling and the tranny had no first or fifth gear, so I purchased a used engine and tranny for $400.00 for the pair. The tranny was in excellent condition but the engine had a bad knock, when you hit the gas. I found out by removing the engine for the third time that a connecting rod bearing had spun and was almost worn right out. I replaced the bearings and installed the engine again but I 'm now having a charging problem and the engine just doesn't run properly. I'm thinking about having the 258 rebuilt or replacing it with either a 304, 360 or a 350 depends on what I can get my hands on. It is once again winter and the Jeep, is parked in the driveway just begging to be driven. I guess it will have to wait until the snow, melts and I don't get frostbite working on it.

Below are some pictures of the Jeep from the summer. Still not finished but driveable.
