DESCRIPTION:
Babs is a teen-age rabbit actress, a natural performer who is always "on".
She's bubbling over with non-stop energy, and loaded with sassiness and
talent. Babs excels at imitations, and is always jumping into a new
celebrity impersonation. She uses this skill to amaze her friends,
confuse her enemies or entertain herself when there's no one else around.
Babs loves anything to do with movies, TV, theatre, or any other element
of performing. She also enjoys shopping, picnics, talking on the
phone, pinching Hamton's cheeks, helping Buster pull a fast one, taking
a "dance break", or doing anything else that could lead to some fun.
Turn-offs include study hall, sitting still, pushy guys, drama critics,
mime. Her biggest fan is Buster, her co-host and comedy partner.
SCHTICKS:
Babs is the girl
of a thousand voices.
She's a remarkable impressionist and equally adept at the art of "quick
change" -- with a swirl of fabric and a shift of her inflection.
Babs' impressions
Some of the impressions in Babs' repertoire include: a cockney; Scarlett
O'Hara; Roseanne Barr; a youthful and elderly Katerine Hepburn; Jane Fonda;
Marilyn Monroe; Lucille Ball; Dolly Parton; Judy Holliday; Margaret Thatcher;
Zsa Zsa Gabor; Bette Midler; Mae West; Dr. Ruth; you get the idea.
Babs is a one-woman show.
Babsy's cellular
phone
Babs is the first rabbit in Acme Acres to have her own moblie phone without
a car. No matter what the situation, Babs may break the action to
answer the cellular phone she keeps somewhere about her person. These
calls will usually come from Babs' unseen and unheard gossipy pal, Harriet.
Harriet always has a knack for reaching Babs at the worst possible time.
For example: the gang is hanging from acliff, moments from certain
doom when...Babs' phone rings. "Oh hi, Harriet. No, nothing
much. What's new with you?...He did?...What did she say? No!
I don't believe it!" Usually her friends get impatient and Babs quickly
excuses herself. "Gotta go Harriet. We're about to plummet
ten thousand feet to our death. Talk to ya later! Bye!"
Babsy's feet
They're huge, but she's wild about them, and they are her favourite body
parts. "Don't I have the cutest toes?" she asks her friends.
She loves to dance with them, and she looks absurd in high heels.
Babs loves to
dress up
...in her mother's clothes. She looks like a goofball, but
don't tell her. She thinks she looks "mahhhhvalous".
Babs' ears
Babs' ears come in handy as props. She can frizz them out to create
a Tina Turner effect, or pull them down around her head like awoebegone
little waif.
Babs hates "lulls"
Whenever there's a lull in a conversation, Babs freaks out. "AUGH!
A LULL!!!" She immediately goes into some intense show-stopping performance
to fill the lull. Buster must drag her off or douse her with water
to stop her.
Babs pet peeves
Sitting still; know-it-alls; cleaning her room; mime; drama critics;
being asked to do an impression of Rich Little; being called by her full
name (Barbara Anne Bunny).
Babs at Acme Looniversity
Babs is one of the school's most promising young performers. Despite getting
in trouble now and then for doing dead-on imitations of pompous faculty
members (like Elmer Fudd), Babs is easily the most popular girl in school.
She's president of the Drama Club, and has been voted the student most
likely to star in the remake of "Sybil".
Babs' home life
Babs hails from a large family of many tiny brothers and sisters and two
very tolerant parents. They all live together in a flower-ringed
hole in Acme Forest. Mom and Dad often have to work late, leaving
Babs to clean the warren and watch the babies. The kids are never
board because babs is always working up some funny new routine to try out
on them.
Babs goes too
far
Babs occasionally gets on the nerves of her friends. Buster may start
a conversation with Babs only to finish it with barbra Streisand , Princess
Di, Chico Marx, or whoever else babs happens to "be" at the moment.
Also, babs may unwittingly hurt her friends by adding them to her repertoire
of impressions.
BABS
VS. ADVERSARIES:
Babs to the rescue
Like Buster, Babs feels sympathy for characters in need, and will rescue
someone from an enemy by posing as a well-known celebrity or authority
figure.
"DANCE BREAK!"
When things look really hairy, babs will suddenly signal for a time out
and yell "Dance break!" Lively music will kick in, and Babs will
go into a hyperactive dance routine. Often her enemy will fall under
the spell of the music and start bopping along with Babs. This gives
Babs the chance she needs to make her escape.
BABS
AND OTHER CHARACTERS:
Babs and Buster
To stop Buster in his tracks, Babs can give Buster a peck on the cheek,
which makes the boy rabbit become completely disoriented for a few moments
-- his ears whirl, his eyes go glassy, and his body twitches, and then
he goes catatonic. Babs is aware of the power of this peck, and reserves
it for only life or death situations.
Babs and Hamton
Babs thinks Hamton is the cutest thing, and is always pinching his cheeks.
"You are so CUUUUUUUUTE!!!" Sometimes Hamton covers his cheeks and
Babs goes for his "cute curly tail". This makes Hamton forget about
his cheeks and protect his tail. Babs then pinches his cheeks.
Hamton is easily embarrassed by Babsy's doting attention.
Babs will often use Hamton's literary quotes as a take-off point for her
impressions. For instance, when Hamton quotes Shakespeare, babs takes
her cue, launching into an impression of Katherine Hepburn doing Lady MacBeth:
"Out, out, you old poop."
Babs and Plucky
Whenever Plucky explains anything to Babs, she looks like she is listening
intently. Then, when the duck finishes his monologue, Babs looks
up and says vaguely, "Sorry, I wasn't listening."
Sometimes Babs can initially fall for Plucky's schemes, but then she'll
turn the tables on him.
Babs and Max
Max thinks Babs is a scatterbrain and is always referring to her as "Bats
Bunny". He's determined to break her spirit in some way. Max
would buy Universal Studios if he could have the satisfaction of calling
in Babs for an audition and then telling her that she stinks.
Whenever Babs gets backed into a corner by Max, she points off and says:
"Look! It's Cher!" Max always falls for this and looks.
Sometimes Babs will impersonate Cher; other times she'll just split.
Babs and Shirley
Babs can relate to Shirley - they're both on other planets.
Babs and Fifi
Babs, Shirley and Fifi are close friends. They'll hang out together,
goof off, and complain about the weaker sex -- "men".
BABS'
CATCH PHRASES:
"I'm not as dumb
as you look."
"Do you like my
ears better up or down?"
"I'm HEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRE!"
"Don't stop me if
you've heard this one..."
"Get a life!"
"What colour is
the sky in that little world of yours?
"In your dreams,
pal!"
"That does it!
My agent's history!"
"Dance break!"
"Don't get mad --
get even."
"Oh, can we talk?"
"You are soooooo
cute!"
"AUGH! A LULL!
I hate lulls!"
"Don't I have the
cutest toes?"
"I look mahhhhvalous!"
"The show must go
on!"
"We need props!"
"We'll shtick our
way out of this mess."
"Do my ears look
okay?"
"Have your people
call my people!"
"The show must go
on!"
"You've got a little
thing in your nose right there." (Variations: "You've got a
little piece of food stuck to your teeth right there." or ""There's just
a little bit of spittle on your lip right there")
Sudden unexpected
Harriet phone calls: "Hello? Harriet! Hieeeeee!
How's every little thing? No! He did that? Grosssssss!
And what'd you do? Harriet! Oh, say, can't talk now..gotta
run! Byeeee!"
