Hey guys, I too am a huge Close Lobsters fan...the greatest band EVER...I think. Awful shame they had to disband. About a
year and a half ago, much to my surprise, I got an e-mail from none other than Tom Donnelly. Here's what he had to say:

Hi, a Close Lobster here (honest) to fill you in on what happened to us all. Where do I start?!? The last thing we actually recorded was the "Headache Rhetoric" album, which was sort of cobbled together 'cos we'd been too lazy to write any  songs (we did however record a version of Leonard Cohen's "Paper Thin Hotel" which is probably one of the best thing we  ever did - none of the band had heard the song before we did it). Thereafter, we toured the UK to promote the album without  much success - falling out with our record company in the process. For some reason somebody in the US wanted us to
tour, so we did in Summer '89, promptly falling out with our manager in the process. We had another crack at America (and  Canada!) in Nov/Dec '89, finding ourselves in the position of touring America without a record company, without a manager  and trying to promote an album which hadn't been released yet! In spite of this, the tour was pretty successful, except that  by the end of it we had all fallen out with each other - leading to scuffles at JFK Airport and other unpleasant scenes. I was  promptly kicked out of the band because the drummer wanted to kill me (the feeling was mutual). They carried on without  me for a while but I don't think released any more records - I saw them playing in Glasgow in Jan. 1991, they were pretty  good and there was quite a big crowd but after that I didn't hear anything else. About a year and a half ago there was talk of
a reunion, so we decided to all meet to discuss it (at a gig by Peter Perrett - about the only person everybody in the band  liked), within 30 seconds of first meeting the drummer said something disparaging about my haircut - the reunion was off!  Since then, I've met various members of the band and decided to confine our activities to merely drinking (which was an  integral part of what we did anyway).

..pretty cool, eh? What a great band they were. My all time favorite tune (by anyone) is "A Prophecy"
