Introduction

This site has been set up as a convenience for other music educators. I'm especially interested in promoting the free exchange of useable musical material. All the songs listed on this site are available by emailing me at:

gamba@concentric.net

Most songs are available in midi format and can also be seen with a GIF picture of the score. At the present time all songs are available free of charge.

All music presented at this site will either be traditional or original and thus not subject to the usual copyright restrictions. Anyone wishing to contribute additional music for sharing is encouraged to send me a midi file and/or score. Most songs, of the ones currently listed, are also available as MusicTime files.

Anyone with the Macintosh version of this inexpensive workhorse program is welcome to have the original MusicTime files emailed straight to them.

Song List:

Songs Available for Sharing
by David Saphra

A MIGHTY MAN - Lyrics - Martin Luther King Song, jazz bossa nova.

MARTIN LUTHER KING (HE WANTED PEACE) - Easily learned and fun to do.

WE SHALL OVERCOME - Simplified version of the venerable civil rights anthem, for beginning recorder players.

Ken's Snowman - Lyrics - This riddle is an Orff-style song, with melody and notation provided.

GUION BLUFORD - Lyrics- Orff-style arrangement about the 1st African American Astronaut.

PLEASE WOODCUTTER - Lyrics - Earth Day Song, Orff arrangement.

DON'T DROP THAT PAPER DOWN - Interactive Earth Day song - great for primary grades

WE THREE KINGS - Very simple holiday action song (NOT the traditonal one) using a BAG melody and echoed movement - Orff arrangement. Thomas Robertson has set up a site that has the words, directions and a picture of the score. Don't forget to also use it on January 6, the official date for "Three Kings Day" in Hispanic and many other cultures

W-A-L-K - Traffic safety song.

NO DRUGS MARCH - Short, simple & catchy.

THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT - Lyrics - Multicultural song (Christmas, Hannuka & Kwanzaa combined).

TURN, DREIDL, TURN - from a popular poem, 2nd stanza w/my own lyrics gives the rules for this Hanuka game.

BELLS ARE RINGING - Great new year's round. You can use it in the fall as well.

BUNNY BY THE WOODS - Easy Easter song.

WASH YOUR HANDS - A neat little hygiene song.

I LIKE TO TAKE A TEST - Maybe if they sing it enough they'll start believing it.

SO LONG, KINDERGARTEN - The Marori Farewell Song set to my own reasonably uncorny lyrics.

ESTUDIANTES QUE ASCENDEMOS - Lyrics - A challenging Spanish graduation samba.

COOL AND CLEVER - Encourages alternatives to using foul language, based on an eight note ascending diatonic scale á la 'Do, Re, Mi' - it's hard to stop singing once started.

DRAW ME A BUCKET OF WATER - Traditonal play-party, Orff setting, with 4 additional melodic ostinati.

MUSIC RULES! - The rules set to an easy melody with an ostinato using 3 pitches repeated once every measure.

I AM A PUMPKIN - Short, Halloween song.

FIVE LITTLE GHOSTS - a finger play or jazz march.

THE GHOST OF JOHN - traditional round.

The Crazy Sailor Song - Lyrics

GO OUT AND VOTE - Ragtime reminder; make Election Day party hats and posters while learing the song then "vote" for your favorites.
