Welcome:
Thank you for visiting my personal website on the African Cichlids from Africa's Great Rift Lakes: Malawi and Tanganyika. My name is Kurt, I am a GCCA member and have been keeping African Cichlids for the past 8 years. The content in this site is a compilation of my experiences with these amazing creatures. I hope you may benefit, or at least be entertained by what I have to share with you.

How I got started:
I was introduced to cichlids when I was 11 years old. My first cichlids were a pair of convicts. Two weeks after I bought the pair, I had a seashell full of fry, and a tank full of fish that were all hiding in a corner. I moved the pair into a 20 gallon a week later, and had them spawn for me about 4 weeks after the move. I was finally able to closely watch the behavior of these fish, and was so fascinated by the brood care, territorial defense, and other behaviors; that I became hooked on cichlids. After a few more spawns from my convicts I gave them back to the pet store and bought some other South Americans. This was the beginning of my cichlid addiction.
