HUMAN RIGHTS AND DEATH PENALTY

President Bill Clinton visited Norway November 1.-2. 1999.

The Norwegian King Harald said in his speach that the US and Norway chared the same sets of values. He also mentioned as one of these values the human rights.

As a member of Amnesty International I am wondering what kind of values King Harald was talking about that is the same in USA and Norway: Has it something to do with the fact that US is the only country, (outside Iran and Iraq), that is still using the death penalty for teenagers under the age of 18.

Did he think of the cruel and barbaric methods of killing a human being: the gass chamber, the electric chair, the death injections?

December 14. 2000:

The new president of the US is named George W. Bush jr. , even if vice precident Al Gore won the election with over 300 000 votes. The election system in the US is a mystery for the rest of the world. After 5 weeks of quarrels, the court has spoken: George W. Bush is the winner. This has happened in the World's Greatest Democracy (more like a Democrazy?). A lot of people is now calling USA a Banana Republic.

George W. Bush jr. has been the governor of Texas, executing most of the Deathrow-prisoners in the US during the last year. Some people has called the new president Bush the Butcher.

So now The Butcher is President of the USA, the World's Greatest Banana Republic and Democrazy.

Congratulations!!
