Gregg Harris's "21 Rules of This House"

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

COMMENTS: This is it!   The famous  "21 Rules of This House"  by Gregg Harris. You know like...when we turn something on, we turn it off or when we take something out, we put it away. How many times have we all said that?   Print it out and post it in a prominent place....why, I guess you could even have the kids memorize it and quote it  "catechism style each day!"   LOL!    While you are at the site...why not look around a bit.

Oriental Trading Company

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

COMMENTS: What in the world is this doing here?????     Well,  my kids and I at one time tried to raise money for our textbooks and educational items by making several games to set up at a local community event where alot of children would be present.    We received necessary permission and set up.    These were simple games like tossing Shadrach,  Meshach and Abednigo into the fiery furnace,  etc.     (e-mail me at bluekoala@hotmail.com for more info.)     We charged a quarter or two and the kiddies got to play our game.    We bought cheap prizes from Oriental Trading Company to give anyone who played ---their stuff is tremendous!    You got to get familiar with this site if you have kids or do any kind of thing with kids...Bible school,  reward programs,   etc.     Online shopping is available or request a catalog.   So....I'm sharing with you....aren't I nice :-)   (No, I don't get a commission!)

Kid's Freeware--Free Software & Internet Services for Kids

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

COMMENTS: I got this valuable link from my FREEBIE OF THE DAY mailing.     Their description of this site says it all so I will quote it here.    You've got to visit this place soon!    It is a great site for both kids and parents.    Kids Freeware has four main sections: Lots of Fun,  School is Open,  Computers and Web,   and Parents Only!

"Lots of Fun is a comprehensive collection of free software and online services like games, screensavers,   coloring books,   and a lot more.     This includes coloring pages that can be printed or colored right online,  as well as trivia games related to some of kids favorite subjects.    This section also has desktop themes and screensavers like The Lion King,  Toy Story 2,  and a whole lot more!"

"School is Open is a comprehensive collection of educational programs to help kids with math,  reading,  and writing just to name a few.     It also makes learning fun with games to help improve your child's memory and learn the alphabet among other things."

"Computers and Web section is a great resource for programs to improve your child's surfing experience including calculators,  collection organizers,  and a lot more.     It also includes tutorials for creating graphics, web pages, etc.    Although this section is geared towards children,   it includes a lot of programs that adults may even find useful."

"Parents Only section is just that.     It includes programs and links to online resources to help you teach your children to surf safely and other non-computer related activities like product recalls,  and anything else you can imagine."

Surfing the Net With Kids: Guide to the BEST KID SITES for kids of all ages!

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

COMMENTS: This is the most wonderful site I have ever seen!     Barbara Feldman keeps up with what is out there on the web that is safe,  fun and educational for your child.    Be sure to sign up for her semi-weekly e-mail newsletter which will keep you informed as to more educational sites on the web.    I am impressed that her newsletter contains not only links to great sites but a commentary as well...a great time-saver for Mom.    This is one newsletter you can't afford to not sign up for if you are homeschooling OR if you have children who like to visit educational sites.     Her newsletter usually is centered around a theme too,  especially helpful for those homeschoolers who do unit studies.    Hats off to Barbara Feldman and her wonderful site!

Everyrule.com--Every Rule in the Universe!

GRADE LEVEL: All ages; Secular

COMMENTS:This site contains a huge database of rules, not only for games,  that are divided into several categories and sub-categories.     Naturally there may be some games (like casino games and some computer games)  you won't want your child exposed to but this is a great site!     Here are the particulars and some of the categories in the words of an email I received from FREEBIE OF THE DAY:

*Kids Games -  has the rules for popular games like marbles and jacks,  plus a lot you have probably never heard of.     You can use the search engine or just browse the A-Z listing to find the rules of any game you played as a kid.
*Etiquette Rules-  who needs Mrs. Manners when you can read this section on what to do and what not to do in everyday life.
*Computer Games-  learn the rules of your favorite games including computer,   nintendo,   sega,  atari,  and more.
*Sports-  read the rulebook of your favorite sports from baseball to basketball just to name a few.
*Board Games-  has the rules for all of your favorite and not so favorite board games.
*Card Games-  contains an A - Z listing of every single card game you can imagine.
*TV Game Shows-  has all of the rules of your favorite television game shows  -   past and present.
*Every Other Rule - every rule that didn't fit in one of the above categories is listed in this section.
