You may be asking yourself "Just what do you mean by western Martial art?" Basically any combat art that can trace it's history back to the Old World. These include but are not limited to: Boxing, Wrestling in many of it's different forms, Savate, Le Canne, Rapier, Faction Fighting, Various cut and thrust sword styles, well Hell, the list just goes on forever. I think you get the point(pun intended). Many very old texts are available on the web for browsing, most deal with armed combat in one form or another. It seems that while the European peoples had unarmed fighting styles a plenty, they chose to fight armed as much as they could, and who could blame them. Due to the availability of raw materials perhaps or some other factors...this is the kind of thing that we love to discuss. Sometimes debates can get heated, but never yet has a sword been drawn....well maybe a few times...just no blood yet.
