I am a newly converted Catholic married to a born Catholic. I am planning to homeschool my child. I do not like the present educational situation in America nor do I care for the violence that has reached even six year olds in our schools. I would alos
much like to educate my son with Catholic ideaologies and beliefs as the core of curriculum. I believe it will do more for him than any other part of the educational process. I sincerely hope to instill in him a sense of God as a friend, as his best fri
nd, his best advisor, and his best parent.

My husband and I have always planned on homeschooling our childern even before we joined a very supportive, very traditional parish. Naturally I have some reservations about teaching my childern , not in my ability but rather in my organization and my pe
serverance. But I know so many wonderful homeschooling families that I know deep down that I won't fail.

Y2K requires I get my NEIGHBOR ready, not me.
Family to family support is needed to avert
civil unrest IF power goes down or supplies are
missing for a few days. During the Depression
it was the neighborhood relying on each other
when a "job went down" and "money was missing."
Therefore, education this fall should have
Biblical Groups ready to help one another.
I am NOT an "end of the worlder," nor should
we assume it won't be our neigborhood. Two out
of ten small businesses will fail---that means
people will need help. And some countries will
have it very bad, even if we don't. Bonds with
neighbors MUST be strengthened now.

My husband and I took three of our four children out of Public school this past Nov. 1998. Let's just say, two out of the three needed honors courses or to be tested for placement in a higher grade. But we have laws here in Louisiana that do not allow i
. So we're been told. The other had a teach that gave each child their own grade curve. Because, she doesn't let anyone fail her classes. Our children are, 9yob, 8yob, soon to be 7yog and a 5 yog. The 5yog is in preschool 3 hours a day. We kept her
o that the other three could have time with me and we could adjust to homeschooling. It hasn't been a bed of roses, but we think we're doing fine. Since we took them out so quickly in November, we quickly picked books by word of mouth. We are using some
book we kept from school, Saxon Math (54 and 3), A Beka (penmanship), and the rest from Our Lady of Victory School(I think they call it Classical Catholic). I would like to chat with others who use these and other materials. I plan to visit this site oft

I put *other* in the curriculum quizlet. We use Five in a Row for our primary curriculum. We use the Faith in Life series for our religion curriculum.
This is a wonderful site. I feel very blessed to have found it. Thank you so much and may God Bless You!

The sharing of the parents of homeschoolers is wonderful. May God bless you all as you do his work. I pray that you will all be rewarded with his special Graces.
