(The Kapampangan Language has connections to the Malay Language)

by Edwin Camaya

This section explores the connection between Bahasa Malay (Malay Language) and Kapampangan.  At the present time it consists of three parts which give examples of similar words found in both languages.  Parts 1 and 2 are from a 2-part article written by Edwin Camaya and published in the July 1994 and October 1995 issues of Ing Susi, the official publication of the Akademyang Kapampangan, the oldest existing Kapampangan organization.  Part 3 is an article written by Andro and Tess Camiling, incorporating a listing of similar Kapampangan and Malay words extracted from a Malay-English dictionary.  Bahasa Malay is the language on which Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language) was originally based.
