Paper

by Sara Kennedy

White. A blank paper. Bare naked and lonely.
No color to cheer,
No pen to scribble,
No marker to draw.
Just blank. With no past written and no future looming,
This paper doesn't know time. Stuck the same. Forever.

Till a pen writes a name
(How Glorious! This paper belongs to someone!)
Then a Title
(How Marvelous! This paper has a theme!)
Then one by one words are filled in
(Content! How Divine!)

This paper doesn't know what pen stroke is next
Yet JOY! RAPTURE!
To belong!
And to have a purpose!
To look back and see the structure written out on this paper.
Each thought
Each idea
engraved on it's lines.

The carefully constructed theme of the Author fully developed
on this single piece of blank white paper,
and it is blank no more.
