| | | | | | | | | | | QUESTION AREA #1: UFO
| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Now, JM, imagine you are in your favorite place on
| | | | | | | | | | | the beach, relaxed and comfortable, when you suddenly
| | |X| | | | | | | | notice a UFO. Describe what you see... Do you see
| | | | | | | | | | | yourself? Tell me what you see.
|P| | | | |X| | | |X|JM: It's a circular, flat disk.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
| | | | | | | | | |3|JM: Very dark. No--uh--uh--like, completely flat. No doors,
| | | | | | | | | |X| windows.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: I see. What else can you tell me about it?
|P| | | | |X| | | |X|JM: It's--uh--like a half a sphere? A circle cut in half.
|P| | | | | | | | |2| The top is arched. The bottom is very dark and the top is
|P| | | | | | | | |2| a shiny silver. Reflecting the sun.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: What else do you see?
|2| | | | | |X| |X|X|JM: Trails behind it. Smoke, maybe.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: Can you tell me anything else? What time is it?
| | | | | | | | | | |JM: It's about noon, maybe one o'clock.
| |X| | | | | | | | |MC: All right. Do you see any lights?
| | | | | | | | | |X|JM: No, none.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: Can you tell me approximately what size it is?
|P| | |X| |X| |X| | |JM: About a block long. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right, that's fine. That's very good. How far away
| | |X| | | | | | | | from you is it? Or how far about you, wherever it happens
| | | | | | | | | | | to be?
|P| | | | | | | | |X|JM: Oh, it's coming out from the ocean, from over the ocean, and
| | | | | | | | | |X| heading for the shore. And it's probably--uh--maybe four or
| | | | | |X| |X| |X| five blocks up.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: OK. Can you tell me any more details about it? Now that
| |X| | | | | | | | | it's closer? All right, JM, is there any motion?
|P| | | | | |X| | |2|JM: It just kind of floats? In the air, kind of--in a straight
|P| | | | | | | | |X| path, like if you were above it looking down, but looking
|P| | | | | | | | |X| sideways kind of up and down.
| |X|X| | | | | | | |MC: See any type of insignias or decorations on it?
|P| | | | | | | |X|X|JM: Um--no, uh--maybe some seams along the side, but--

Comment on Question Area #1: UFO Sighted

JM is a good subject, for her trance state is deep and she stays in
present tense throughout. Yet there is a deceptive quality to her
regression manner, for she has a disconcerting habit of chuckling as
if apologizing after her remarks, and some of her details are sketchy.
Yet many of her narrative descriptions are strong, and a few are
absolutely fascinating.

Here JM's UFO starts as a flat placental disk without doors or
windows, then she changes it to a more womblike hemisphere, and
adds another perinatal detail – "Trails behind it. Smoke maybe."
The smoke trail is an umbilical image; UFOs are often described
with umbilical rays of light streaming down from their bottoms;
though sometimes a smoke-trail is described. Landed UFOs have
other umbilical symbols dangling underneath -- ladders, or spidery
landing gear (as in #4 RY's narrative). JM first says her UFO is
an awkwardly large city "block" in size, and its height is "four
or five blocks up" – maybe 2-3,000 feet. (She revises some of that.)
She hears MC's deliberate cue for insignias, but perhaps surprisingly
rejects it, offering a reasonable alternative that shows she is
visualizing: "seams."

| | | | | | | | | | | QUESTION AREA #2: SUBJECT BOARDS UFO
| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Very good. All right, now JM, I want you to imagine now
| |X| | | | | | | | | that you are aboard that flying saucer. Can you see
| |X| | | | | | | | | yourself aboard that flying saucer? I want you to tell us
| | |X| | | | | | | | how you got there.
| | | | | | | | | |2|JM: Uh--I was sitting on the sand, and it flew directly above
|P| | |X| | |X| |X| | me, and it kind of hovered down over me.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
| | | |X| | | | |X| |JM: And I think I thought I was going to be smashed, but
|2| | | |X| |X| | |2| instead I passed through the bottom, up and into the craft.
|P| | | | | | | |X|X| And I was standing on the bottom, and I thought to myself,
|P| | | |X|X|X| |X|X| how could I stand on the bottom when I just passed through
|P| | |X| | | | | |X| the bottom? (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: I see. So that, if I understand, what happened then was
| |X| | | | | | | | | that the flying saucer came directly over you, something
| | | | | | | | | | | happened to the bottom where you came up through, and then
| | |X| | | | | | | | the bottom formed underneath you. Is that about what happened?
|P| | |X| | | | |X| |JM: It was kind of a--a spacecraft landed on me. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Uh--huh.
|P| | | |X| |X| | |2|JM: And it's like--there is no bottom and yet there was. From
|2| | | | | | | |X|X| the bottom I could go up, and yet it was kind of hard,
| | | | | | | | | |X| standing on it.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: I want you to tell me if you feel anything when this is
| | | | | | | | | | | happening?
|P| | | |X| |X| |X|2|JM: Uh--no real feeling, like passing through air. But a hum.
|P| | | |X| |X| | |X| A steady hum, loud.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: How do you feel?
| | | |X| |X| | | |X|JM: I'm scared, because I don't really know what's happening
| | | |X| | | | | |X| but curious more than anything else, probably.

Comment on Question Area #2: Boarding UFO

JM does exactly what many real abductees claim that they do – she passes
through solid matter on her way into the UFO. The saucer's solid bottom
does something, she moves through, then immediately afterward she is
standing on the same spot. (If you are new to ufology, you might think
this is as screwy as it gets – but just wait.)

JM's passage through the UFO's bottom is not quite like RM's, with one
circular area that becomes both a cervix and vaginal tunnel. Rather,
on JM's UFO the entire bottom momentarily becomes a cervical opening.
A tunnel is not mentioned, but JM implies some sort of opening by
depicting the UFO as lying on her (she fears she'll be "smashed")
while she is sitting on the sand (i.e., in fetal position): "...a
spacecraft landed on me...From the bottom I could go up..." She can
suddenly go up and enter the UFO. Once inside, JM hears a steady,
loud hum. As with RM, that hum is from womb memories. Not consciously,
of course. None of our Imaginary or "real" abductees ever made a
conscious connection between their CE3 events and birth processes. (Nor
did McCall or I.)

JM hears the hum in the UFO "big room." Meantime, she is a bit fearful
but even more curious about what is going to happen.

| | | | | | | | | | | QUESTION AREA #3: THE UFO INTERIOR
| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Now,---now, imagine you're inside the UFO. I want you to
| | | | | | | | | | | look around you and describe what you see. I want you to
| | |X| | | | | | | | describe the inside of that UFO.
|P| | | | | |X| | |X|JM: Uh--in shape, it also appears--uh--spherical? But much
|P| | | | |X| | | |2| smaller than a block long. No windows, nothing--no
|2| | | | | | | |X|2| doors--nothing to the outside, except for the bottom, which
|P| | | | | |X| | |2| is solid again. Uh--there are a lot of lights, there's
| | | | | | | | |X|X| squares--uh--flashing lights all on one side, like on my
| | | | | | | | | |X| right, the whole half clear around me is a--a square of
| | | | | |X| | |X|2| flashing-type lights. Electronic-type stuff, it looks
| | | | | | | | | |X| like. But directly to my right, there's a break in the
| | | | | | | | |X| | electronic--type stuff, there's--it looks like two feet of
| | | | | | | | |X| | just plain metal, and then the--it goes down the side.
| | | |X| | | | | |X| Uh--to my left, uh--there's chairs, (CHUCKLE) uh--a
| | | | | | | | |X|X| desk-type thing along the entire ... side. To the left
| | | | | | | | | |X| all around me.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm.
|2| | |X|X| | | | |3|JM: Possibly these things sit there and control the ship--there
| | | | | | | | | |X| looks like an instrument panel. Oh...
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: You're doing very well---.
| | | | | | | | |X|X|JM: Nothing really on the wall. Just metal. Dark.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Perhaps you could tell me, do you breathe all right?
| |3| | | | | | | | | Cold? Hot? Warm? How do you feel?
|2| | | | | | | | |2|JM: I can breathe fine. Maybe a little cold, because I dressed
| | | | | | | | | |X| to be out in the sun.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm. What do you have on?
| | | |X| | | | | |X|JM: Shorts and a T-shirt. (CHUCKLE)
| |X| | | | | | | | |MC: Do you see any insignias, designs around?
| | | | | | | | | |X|JM: On the right, where there was the break in all the
| | | |X| | | | |2| | electronic type stuff--wow, that was making a noise,
|2| | | | | |X| |X|X| besides the hum a kind of a popping--there's some black
| | | | | |X|X| |X|X| markings- -I don't--nothing I've seen. May--like--uh,
| | | | | | | | |X| | Chinese characters, Japanese, that kind of thing.

Comment on Question Area #3: UFO Interior

JM corrects herself: the interior is "...much smaller than a block
long" (but it's still a sizeable big room); no windows or doors,
no way to the outside except through the bottom (she can't forget
zapping through that solid floor). She is apparently in the center
of the hemispherical (womb-shaped) craft, and her description of
the interior is organized: "...on my right, the whole half clear
around me is a...square of flashing-type lights." And "...to my
left...there's chairs...a desk-like thing along the entire side..."
She adds, "Possibly these things sit there and control the ship...
looks like an instrument panel." (We ask – what things? We haven't
seen any entities yet! Like RM, JM anticipates them. Is she eager
for a bonding, too?)

Note that like all real and Imaginary abductees, JM demonstrates
an inability to describe what she cannot imagine, and can't be
expected to describe: actual futuristic alien technology. She uses
the lame phrase "electronic-type stuff" thrice, and her details are
vague and generalized. Conclusion: abductees can't describe alien
hi-tech for good reason -- because they never see it!
Now she's hearing a second noise, a kind of popping (later we hear
it's from the electronic equipment) along with the hum. And in
response to MC's cue, she, like RM, sees something like written
characters in an unknown language. Much has been made of such
characters, and many real witnesses have reported them. But so have
the Imaginaries – all the more reason to see such reports as
aspects of CE3 fantasies.

| | | | | | | | | | | QUESTION AREA #4: ENTITIES
| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right. Now, you mentioned that it looked like there was
| | | | | | | | | | | a place for some "things" to control the craft. Now I want
| | | | | | | | | | | you to imagine now that those "things" are in the room with
| | |X| | | | | | | | you. I want you to tell me what they look like.
|P| | | | | |X| | |X|JM: Uh--uh--they're tall--six, seven feet. Uh--it's got long
|P| | |X| | |X|X| |2| hair, it's like a tree, kind of (CHUCKLE). Uh--I don't see
|3| | | | | |X| |2|X| any arms. No legs at all. Kind of like a stump kind of
|3| | | | | |X|X|X|2| thing. No appendages at all. Like, no ears, no nose, and
|P| | | | | | | |X| | maybe one eye in the center?
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
|P| | |X| |X| | | |X|JM: A black eye? (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right. There must be some way that they manipulate that
| | |X| | | | | | | | UFO. How do they do that?
|P| | | |X| |X| | |X|JM: Uh--beam of light from that eye, whatyacallit, uh--brain
|P| | | | | | | |X|X| center if you want to call it. Just--to the instruments.
| | | | | | |X| |X|X| There's no--uh--buttons to push, nothing like that. I think
|P| | | |X| | | | |X| it's all thought.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: All right. Can you see them moving?
|P| | |X| | |X| | |X|JM: They just--uh--glide along the floor. (CHUCKLE)
| |X| | | | | | | | |MC: You can't actually see any feet or anything like that?
|P| | | | |X|X| | |X|JM: Hm-um... Maybe they're a little off the floor, my backup
| | | | | | | | | | | hunch is...
| |X|X| | | | | | | |MC: Do they seem to have any type of clothing, or coloring, or-
|P| | | | | | | |X|X|JM: Yeah, they're dark brown. Uh--they eyes are black. No
|P| | | | | | | | |X| clothing at all. It just--uh--uh--the shape I guess would be
|P| | | | | |X|X| | | like a Christmas tree, kind of--uh--rounded at the top.
|P| | | | | |X| |X| | And--uh--just really long brown hair, kind of like a--bear.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm.
| | | |X| | | |X|X| |JM: But longer and--uh--straggly, kind of. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm. OK, does there seem to be any social structure
| | | | | | | | | | | there? You don't understand what I mean by that? OK?
| | |X| | | | | | | | Tell me what you get of--uh--a social structure.
| | | | | | | | | |X|JM: Oh, I see one of these creatures at... the instrument
| | | | | | | | |X|X| panel. Uh--others more or less hovering around him. So I
| | | | | | | | | |X| assume this is the leader.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
| | | | | | | | | |X|JM: Uh--there's no verbal communication. Uh--uh... I pick
|P| | | |X| | | | | | up two ways of communicating. One, when like the leader,
| | | | |X|X| |X| | | quote, uh--looks at the others with his eye, and kind of--
|P| | | | | |X| |X| | the beam goes back and forth. And also, I see him looking
| | | | |X| | | |X| | towards the--uh--blank wall--and also communicating with
|P| | | |X| |X| |X|X| those in back of him, by just--uh--thought, without the
| | | | | | | | | | | beam.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: How do you feel just now (?)
| | | |X| | | | | |2|JM: I'm still scared. Because I don't know what it is,
|P| | | | |X| | | |X| really. Uh--w--what's--I'm oblivious (SIC) to them? They don't
| | | |X|X| |X| |X|X| even know I'm there. Yes, I'm like a third party, watching?
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: All right. What about any physical sensation? Your five
| | | | | | | | | | | senses?
|P| | |X| | |X| | |2|JM: Oh...it's dark. I'm cold. My feet are especially cold.
|P| | | | | | | | |X| Uh--the noise--I--uh--I hear the hum, and also a kind of a
|P| | | | | | | |X| | pop--popping from the electronic equipment.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Uh-hm.
| | | |X| | |X| | |X|JM: A coldness. I pick that up in my nose, too. Uh--

Comment on Question Area #4: Entities

JM responds to MC's entity cue with one of the most unusual entity
descriptions – real or imagined – in my experience. Her tree- or
bush-like entities are without upper appendages and "no legs at all."
They have no ears, nose, or mouth, are covered with long and straggly
dark brown hair, and are maybe seven feet tall. Their "head" displays
no feature other than a single 8-inch diameter black eye (larger even
than Strieber's bug-eyed grays!), from which comes a remarkable
lighted energy beam!

The beam emerges from the cyclopean eye slowly enough for JM to see
its cut-off end as it moves forth or back. These entities with their
extraordinary eye-beams are stunning – either as imaginative
constructs or as technological possibilities. JM's entities may be
robotic-animal combinations, a kind of animal android, so I would
classify them as exotics. They glide or float a bit off the floor,
perhaps by technological means. She senses that they operate the UFO
by thought and eye-beams –- no buttons to push. They communicate with
each other via the beams, too, and also apparently by telepathy.
A similar energy beam had been described at this time in a few other
unpublished CE3s, notably the Garden Grove case; but it is one example
of several remarkable CE3 detail parallels that the Imaginary Abductees
came up with, without an immediately evident UFO-related film or TV
origin. It may connect in part to the rich "evil eye" folk tradition,
TV cartoons, or sci-fi films.

Naturally, I have a possible perinatal source: the beam's essence as
flowing energy with a cut-off end suggests the umbilical cord, an
energy life-line that is cut off at birth. Perhaps this alien eye-beam
has its fantasy roots in post-natal memories after umbilical
separation.

JM is understandably apprehensive at this point; it is dark, and also
cold in the UFO. These large, very weird cyclopean entities seem to be
ignoring her.

| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm. OK. Now, I want you to relax completely. Just

| | | | | | | | | | | beings, these things, as you call them, are going to
| | |X| | | | | | | | examine you. They're examining you, and I want you to
| | | | | | | | | | | tell me what's happening. What are they doing to you?
|P| | | | |X| | | |X|JM: I'm in the center--more or less--of the--uh--craft.
| | | | | | | | | |X| Uh--they're all around me in a circle. Uh--kind of facing
|2| | |X| | | | |X|X| me with their eye. And it's like--uh--each--a beam from
|P| | | | | |X|X| |X| each one of them is starting like from my--the top of my

|P| | |X|X| |X| | |X|JM: Uh--it's like they're probing my mind?
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: Um-hm.
| | | | |X| | | | |X|JM: First, uh--they'd just see--you know--uh--find out and
| | | | | | | | | |X| a--anything they can. You know--uh--what's happening in
|2| | |X| | |X| |X|X| my mind. Uh--the humming is louder? Uh--on my face,

| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: All right. So what are they doing now?
|P| | |X| | | | | |2|JM: Oh--yeah, they're to my neck? Uh--I--was--am--fearful
| | | | | | | | | |X| that--uh--by them--by their--uh--uh--looking, I'd guess
|P| | | | | | | | |X| you'd say, with their beam, into my brain, that it would
|P| | |X|X|X| | |X|2| leave me with nothing; but I can still think, I know where
| | | | | | | | | |2| I am. I--guess they haven't damaged my brain at all.
|P| | | | | | | | | | Uh--let's see--uh--as they go down to my neck--uh--maybe
|P| | |X| | |X| | |X| it's a little hard to breathe, because it's like
|P| | | | | | | |X| | everything is concentrated on that particular part of
|P| | |X| | | | | |X| me. Kind of like they're choking me.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: You having trouble breathing?
|P| | | | | | | |X|X|JM: Yeah, a little bit. But--they're moving down further,
|2| | | | | | | | |2| like my shoulders, and then my lungs--and
|2| | | | | |X| |X|X| it's--uh--lot of pressure, like--uh--swimming, when
| | | |X| | | | |X|X| you're in deep--in a pool. That type of--pressure. Uh--
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: What do you--where is that pressure coming from?

| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
|P| | |X| | | | | |X|JM: Uh--my heart--uh--beating faster, no real change in that.
|X| | | | | | | | |MC: Do they seem to be able to see right through you?

|P| | | | | | | |X| |JM: Uh--it's like--all their beams are concentrated on
| | | | | | | | |X|X| me--in--in a particular spot. And they stop there--they

| | | | | | | | | |X| warm.

|P| | | | | | | | |X|JM: Um-hm ... Uh--they kind of--uh--when they get to my feet

| | | | | | | | | | |MC: How do you feel?
| | | |X| | | | | |X|JM: Kind of relieved that--that's all that happened. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right. You say that the beam, now, that was directed
| | |X| | | | | | | | at your face, is this all of them, or just one of them?
|P| | | | | | | | |X|JM: Uh--when they stopped at my feet, the beam retracted.
|P| | | | | | | | |X| And then--now, it's like they're just looking at me,
|P| | |X| | | | | |X| they're not--the beams are not out. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
|P| | | | | | | |X|X|JM: And they're all looking. In a circle.

Comment on Question Area #5: Examination

JM stands in the center of the UFO with the entities circling her.
Simultaneously a beam comes from each of their eyes and starts to
probe her body, head to foot. She hears the humming louder as they
probe, and she feels warmth on her face and heat inside her body
from the beams. They are probing to find out "what's happening in
my mind." "The longer they stay in one place without moving, the
hotter it gets," she says.

JM's aliens anticipate by more than a decade a similar supposed
alien procedure (called "Mindscan" by David Jacobs) that threatens
to extract data from an abductee's mind. But JM's aliens probe her
mind not through her eyes but directly into her brain, with their
single gigantic eye. She is fearful that their probing might "leave
her with nothing," but at the end she can still think and so she
figures they haven't damaged her; though she concedes she feels
scanned.

As their eye-beams move down to her neck JM finds it hard to breathe,
almost as if they are choking her. They move on to her shoulders and
lungs, heart and ribs. Their beams don't go through her body -– they
are "just taking a look" inside, she says with a laugh. They move to
her legs, which become locked stiffly for some reason, "like they're
wrapping me up like a mummy" -– though her arms feel unrestrained.
This entire scene of head-to-foot body probing and paralysis is in
part a deliveryroom memory. Probes of the head, (ear, eyes, nose,
throat), chest, then examination of the limbs are routine. Feeling
paralyzed as JM does is common in parts of actual birth struggle
revivifications, but it may also reflect the habit of snugly wrapping
the neonate after the initial post-natal cleansing, or else after a
later full bath. Since JM's arms are free, she may have been only
partly wrapped.

Blanketing is important because a newborn cannot shiver when cold,
and it is essential to keep it warm. But the wrapping constitutes the
first time in the neonate's young life that its limbs are immovable,
and it must be stressful for them.

Suddenly the entities stop probing JM's body, and simultaneously
retract their beams (!). Then they seem to stand back and stare at
her face for a time, oddly. With those eyes, this would have been the
time for the infamous alien "stare" to make a bonding offer to JM.
But she does not seem interested in bonding with these very strange
aliens, and gives them no encouragement.

I must remind the reader of the Imaginary context of this "stare" --
JM has fantasized it completely, and it is possible to say that at
some level she is creatively toying (unconsciously without doubt) with
the bonding issue, and though she rejects these aliens her perinatal
mindset is manifest here. Of course this is true of all abductees who
"script" these "bonding stares" into their narratives. It is also
additional evidence for a perinatal interpretation of this and other
CE3s. Her indifference to the bond offer may suggest there was an
imperfect parental bonding experience in JM's past; or it could be
that she is simply not interested in bonding with these remarkable
entities. Certainly she feels disturbed by them at this point and
beyond, and she feels relieved that nothing worse happened during
the exam. Meantime they are staring at her.

Comment on Question Area #6: Message

JM has trouble getting the "message" because I believe she has
already received it: apparently, it was because of this most weird
of all aliens' preliminary move toward a bonding offer that she
rejected them before they even made it. She must still be thinking
about the bizarre scene moments before -- their collective staring
at her -- when MC asks the message question. JM pauses, confused.
Then she sputters that she didn't pick up any verbal message (i.e.,
it was non-verbal). Her head still feels the warmth of their probing
presence, and her mind is jumbled.

She actually anticipated the bonding offer at the end of the previous
segment, but in 1977 McCall and I didn't know enough about perinatal
functions to guide JM -- or more accurately, to take her where she
wanted us to go. MC finally cues JM directly, and she comes up with a
stereotypical warning of ecological catastrophe. Then she enlarges on
it, saying these aliens speak from experience, for they no longer have
a world of their own. They want to stay on Earth – "And not...
peacefully, I don't think" she adds.

JM grumbles that she was the one who found all this out. They want to
take over the world, and she doesn't know what she should do, even if
she does get back to Earth. (Under trance, at least, JM actually seems
to believe she is at some distance from Earth and in a UFO.) She says,
significantly, "It's like I know something..."

Ironically, JM does have a "message" after all: she knows there are
alien visitors, and she needs to connect with someone who will trust
and believe her -- which is a fair description of the beginnings of a
meaningful bond. But unlike RM's segment, there is no successful
bonding here; only memories of the aliens' super-sized stare. It's a
good bet that -- despite all the bug-eyed "grays" in Strieber and Hopkins --
no "real" abductee ever had to look at entities with such Godawful big,
ugly, and haunting eyes.

| | | | | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: OK, now. Just relax, take a deep breath and blow it all
| | | | | | | | | | | out. Just kind of feel the tension going out of your

| | | | | | | | | | |JM: Um-hm.
| | |X| | | | | | | |MC: I want you to tell me how you got there.
|P| | | | | |X| | |X|JM: Uh... there's a particular spot on the bottom of the

|P| | | | | | | |X|X| me--where the spot was--uh--I walked over and stood on it.
|P| | |X| | |X| |X|X| and I could feel that the floor wasn't there, that

|P| | | |X| |X| | |X|JM: And down. Uh--uh--and then--uh--the--uh--the UFO was quite
|2| | |X| | |X| |X|X| near the--sand. And I just kind of fell through. (CHUCKLE)
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
|P| | | | | | | | |X|JM: It wasn't a jump or anything.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: I understand.
|P| | | |X| |X| | |X|JM: Yeah, I was there one minute, and I was on the sand
| | | | | | | | | | | the next.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: OK. Now, I want you to kind of look at yourself there
| | | | | | | | | | | on the sand, and tell me if there is any physiological
| | |X| | | | | | | | change, or any physical change. Do you change in any way?
|P| | |X|X|X|X| | |X|JM: (PAUSE) I'm taller. (CHUCKLE) And that's it. No
| | | | | | | | | |X| really--uh--no marks, nothing.
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right, fine. Are there any psychological
| | |X| | | | | | | | problems associated with this?
| | | |X| | | | | |X|JM: I know I'm really confused. Uh--I--don't know if what
|P| | | | | |X| | |X| happened really happened or if--uh--I was
| | | | | | | | | |X| hallucinating?
| | | | | | | | | | |MC: All right.
| | | |X| | | | | |X|JM: Uh--I'm worried, if it really happened--uh--you know, and
| | | |X| | |X| | |X| if these things are going to take over the world, and I'm
| | | | | | | | | |2| the only person to know, uh--I have a responsibility,
|P| | |X| | | | | |X| and I don't know what to do about that. Because nobody
| | | |X| | | | | |X| is going to believe me.

Comment on Question Area #7: Return

Though there is no bonding in JM's return to Earth, there is
plenty of perinatal data. She passes back through the evanescent
"cervix" on the UFO's bottom. If the first time through was a
"rebirth," the next is a "re-rebirth," except that now her
description is more detailed. "There is a particular spot"
on the "bottom" as she says. The body terms she uses here
suggest birthing struggles: ...they...pushed me...I could
feel...the bottom...wasn't there...But...it supported me...I
could kind of feel myself...bobbing up and down on the spot...
And down...And I just kind of fell through."

We have been told -- without so much as a raised brow from
True-Believers -- that it is routine for "real" abductees to
be taken from their beds and floated through closed doors,
windows, or walls into a waiting craft. Yet now, in two
Imaginaries, we have the same phenomenon described. What to
believe? I believe that it could indeed happen – in an
Imaginary CE3, and just about nowhere else, and thus that
all CE3s are fantasies.

JM's passage is one of those "strange" events for which
CE3 cases continue to be notorious: how does an abductee
push through a "closed" passageway? Perhaps only
metaphorically and symbolically, through the remembered
miracle of birth. Recall that the cervix is a "closed door"
until, when time is ripe, it gradually opens from the
center outward. By the way, JM's account of going and
leaving through the solid UFO bottom is the most detailed
such account I know. Remember that "doorway amnesia" (DA)
is supposed to occur in part because the moment of passage
(whether through solidity or no) is completely
inexpressible. There is some DA in both real and
Imaginaries; but McCall usually had little trouble making
his subjects give full accounts. Better technique by
hypnotists might make DA extinct.

There is another unusual event in this segment. Note that
in answer to MC's question JM says that the only change in
herself she can determine is, "I'm taller." As I remember,
JM was already a tall girl at the time, at least 5' 9" or
so, and as a college senior of 22 unlikely to grow much
taller. How to account for her assertion, unless her
perinatal memory is speaking to MC's question, and saying
that, compared to her original time of birth at least,
she's a big girl now, i.e., taller. Then again, why only
that specific detail?

The seeming actuality of the entire CE3 experience confuses
JM, and (like several of our Imaginary subjects) she is
momentarily not sure her abduction didn't actually occur.
For if it happened she has responsibilities, and "nobody
is going to believe me." Her mood is much more serious and
thoughtful than RM's at the same point in her CE3.

Comment on Question Area #8: Aftermath

Responding to MC's question (asked also in #7), JM gives a similar
though briefer version of her previous answer. An interesting
addition is her assertion that she has breathing problems in
certain contexts. Breathing problems are one of the fetus' major
birth difficulties, since in the last months or so the placenta
is increasingly inefficient in its main tasks of bringing oxygen
to and carrying wastes from the fetus. Interesting that JM should
remember as her current physical problem a situation afflicting
fetuses, asthmatics, and others with lung diseases – when she was
not ill in any way. She obviously was experiencing her CE3
intensely.

And in psychological terms, she still wonders whether or not her
CE3 was a fantasy. Note her statement, "I haven't been one to
hallucinate like that or dream that vividly." So at least during
this trance JM was seemingly convinced that she actually
experienced a CE3. No wonder, then, if there are hundreds, if
not thousands, more alleged abductees that think the same.

I must hastily add that Dr. McCall took great pains to relieve
his subjects of any residual worries or doubts about the reality
of the Imaginary Abduction experiences. In a chat period of an
hour or so afterwards, the subjects all seemed to make it back
to Earth. It is clear that such professionalism was not there
for all those who might have been on the fringes of ambivalent
belief during hypnosis sessions over the past two decades or so.

GROUPED PERINATAL ECHOES IN JM's IMAGINARY CE3

GENERAL PERINATAL ECHOES
-UFO hovered down over JM; she passed through the bottom and was inside
-how she got off: they showed her a spot to stand on and pushed; but the bottom
wasn't there, and she just "kind of fell through"
-probing beam from aliens’ eye (cf. "alien stare" in Jacobs, etc.)

AMNIOTIC ECHOES
-UFO emits a steady, loud hum [maternal body noises], with a kind of popping

CERVICAL ECHOES
-inside UFO: no doors or windows to the outside save the UFO's "bottom"

DELIVERY ROOM MEMORIES
-chilly inside UFO (neonates often cold after bathing)
-aliens’ message is a warning; they no longer have a world (lost womb)
-Beam-probes are symbolic delivery room body probes
-legs "locked" – echo of neonate blanketing after post-natal bath

FETAL ECHOES
-no fetal humanoids, but some parallels w/other CE3 beings:
-exotic, Cyclops-like creatures have no facial features, large eye
-they glide or float, not walk (womb floating)
-powerful eye-beam of light controls UFO; intense "alien stare" parallel
-telepathic, psychokinetic powers -- everything done by thought

PLACENTAL ECHOES
-UFO is first described as a circular disk, completely flat
-something trails behind the UFO, maybe "smoke" (umbilical cord parallel)

UMBILICAL ECHOES
-cut-off energy beam from creatures -- moves out gradually, w/blunt "end"
-entities surround JM and probe her together, a beam from each eye, starting
at her head and moving on down her body (birthing room probings)
-their probes see into, not through, her (womb & genitals)
-probes feel warm, even hot (Grof birth memory data; warm blood flow)
-beams retract into alien’s eye or head simultaneously (as if a single probe)

VAGINAL ECHOES
-breathing problems when they probe her chest (common birth memory)
-she feels body pressure from their probing (body, chest pressures common)
-it is dark and cold in UFO (Grof birth memories)
-aftermath: JM feels "taller" (shape changes common in Grof late stage data)

BONDING ECHOES
-JM, like all the others, anticipated meeting and perhaps bonding with aliens
-She was put off by their complete indifference to her, and also by their bizarre
	appearance and behavior
-JM may have been frightened by their collective "stare" during her exam,
after which no bond was possible between them
