Alvino Ray Gun

The Alvino Ray Gun Batgirl and the boys were subjected to by Dr. Cassandra was going to be called the "Ronald Ray Gun," until the censors objected to naming a weapon after the Governor of California! So, instead, the gun was named after American swing era musician Alvin McBurney, better known by his stage name of Alvino Rey.

(Thanks to JP for the "pity" sound bite and to Vectra-1 for most of the great new pictures!)

"Ah, Batman. I see you've decided to take a crack at us . . . but I've got your number."

"And what about me? Do you have my number, too?"

"Other women's numbers don't interest me, Batgirl."

Gary Gerani in his excellent analysis of the Alvino Ray Gun trap maintains there were two different colored versions of Batgirl's costume: one more purple with shorter Bat-ears and one blueish with longer ears. I, however, think these pictures - and the entire Alvino Ray Gun sequence - show there was only one color of costume, which looked different depending on the lighting. I believe any difference in "ear length" can be explained by how much the Bat-ears were "teased out" from the cowl.
You can see the same color effect in the Siamese Human Knot.
Admittedly, though, the perception of colors is subjective.

"What . . . are you doing . . . t-t-t-t-to our b-bodies?"

"Holy

Helplessness!"

"I feel like I'm . . .

. . . getting . . .

. . . flat!"
Cabala: "What a pity."

Starman* has a very nice image of this trap as well.
