2007 Dia de los Muertos

On Friday, November 2, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, the Arlington Arts Center is pleased to host the fourth annual El Dia de los Muertos celebration, featuring memorial altars, music by Mariachi Fiesta, a dance presentation by Grupo Awal de Chiquirichapa, and traditional foods like pan de muerto and hot chocolate. Guests are invited to bring mementos to place on the altars in memory of those of those who have died.

The event is free and open to individuals and families. This is a popular event: reservations are required. For more information or to reserve a spot, please call 703-248-6800.

On Saturday, November 3, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, the AAC will host the fourth annual mask-making and sugar skull decorating workshop for ages 10-14. An opportunity to learn about this important Mexican holiday, this free workshop for middle school age children includes a presentation about the activities associated with Day of the Dead, mask-making, sugar skull decorating, and story telling of all sorts.
