Freddy Khong Tee Hin Sensei

Freddy Sensei took up Aikido in late 1962 with Lee Meng Kum Sensei at the age of 15. He had been inspired by N. Tamura Shihan in 1963, when the latter first visited Singapore with his wife while on their way to France. Freddy Sensei later had the opportunity to study with M. Fukakusa Shihan, a student of Tamura Shihan (Tamura Shihan had then instructed Fukakusa Shihan to come to Singapore).

He started assisting in the dojo as early as 1965, and was the one responsible for starting the first Aikido children class in Singapore at the Metropolitan YMCA, Stevens Road. For a period between 1977 and 1983, he had taught Aikido at the Budokan Sportscenter in Munich, Germany. Following his return, he soon went on to set up more children classes at SAFRA Bukit Merah and SAFRA Tampines clubs. With the help of his nephew and sons, the first adult class together with a children class was established at Bukit Gombak CC in July 1999. The following year also saw the birth of two more dojos at Bukit Batok and Buona Vista CCs.

Freddy Sensei was awarded his 5th dan by Hombu dojo in February 2004.
