Parrott Gun

43rd Pennsylvania is dedicated to the men, including my great grandfather, David Givens, Sgt. Battery "E", who served from 20 June 1861 to 20 July 1865 in the Forty-third Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers (First Pennsylvania Light Artillery), during the Civil War. All of the 290 men who served with Battery "E" were recruited from York County, Pennsylvania. Battery "E" was known throughout the Union Army as the "York Artillery".
