In the Sailormoon anime, the story focuses on our solar system's Sailor senshi: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Ten senshi of the strongest that ever existed.
It starts off on the glorious Silver Millieum of the Moon Kingdom when peace reigned. The Moon didn't orignally have a senshi, though the rulers of the solar system lived there. Earth was also not a part of the kingdom, though negotiations were underway. Then evil forces appeared, effecting the demise of the Silver Millieum, destroying all life except on Earth. Queen Serenity of the Silver Milliuem defeated the evil forces at the cost of her life and sent her daughter, Princess Serenity and her bodyguards, the Inner and Outer senshi, with others to be reborn, thousands of years into the future, our time.
The story is picked up when Princess Serenity is reborn with her guardians. We go with her through the trials and conflicts she endures to find her love, Prince Endymion, the senshi of Earth and her hopes to create a reign of peace again.
Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon (which is literally translated into Beautiful Girl Star Warrior Sailor Moon) is one awesome story that has 18 manga books on it written by Naoko Takeuchi and 200 anime episodes.
